Testing and Asessment

Psychoeducational Testing

Psychoeducational testing refers to the process of evaluating a student's cognitive, academic, emotional and behavioral functioning, in order to determine the source of achievement difficulties, and to better guide the need for educational supports.

Psychoeducational testing is offered at TCFP to better understand your child or teen's learning profile. Testing batteries typically include the Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children- fifth edition (WISC-V) and the Weschler Individual Achievement Test- third edition (WIAT-III), to identify the source of academic difficulties such as  ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and /or Dyscalculia. Additional measures may include behavioral, social, and executive functioning rating scales. You will receive a detailed evaluation of strengths and areas of difficulty, along with clear recommendations and next steps to support learning at home and in school. We are also available to consult regarding preparing for eligibility meetings or understanding student and parent rights to special education in New Jersey,

Neuropsychological Assessment

Neuropsychological testing evaluates a number of different cognitive processes including attention, memory, sensorimotor integration, learning and memory, language and comprehension, social perception, and visual-spatial skills. Testing results can be used to help diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and guide interventions for occupational and speech therapy, as well as, adjustments to school or work environments and schedules. A healthcare professional may recommend neuropsychological testing if you've had a neurological injury, like a stroke, seizure, or traumatic brain injury. It could also be recommended to get a baseline measure for instances such as, if you play contact sports or have a family history of dementia.

Testing batteries are customized to your individualized needs and usually include a combination of subtests from the Developmental Neuropsychological Assessment (NEPSY-II) and  and the Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System (D-KEFS).

Career Planning and Testing

If you're feeling unsure or overwhelmed about what to do after school, a career assessment can be a great starting point for exploring paths that may be a good fit for you. Effective career assessments look at multiple factors—such as your interests, personality, strengths, and goals—without requiring extensive preparation or research. The process is designed to be engaging and low-stress, helping you gain insight into potential career directions while making the experience both informative and enjoyable.
